Anejhari Butterfly Camp
Amidst the undisturbed natural and lush green setting of the Mookambika Wildlife Sanctuary, the Anejhari Butterfly Camp promises an experience of a lifetime with the Souparnika river meandering gently by the camp and the sweet fragrance of the trees flowing in the air.
Anejhari Butterfly Camp is located near Kollur, about 80 km from Udupi.
The camp offers an amazing opportunity to trek the Kodachadri peak (10th highest peak in Karnataka), a declared natural heritage site by the Government of Karnataka. Kodachadri forms the background to the famous temple of Mookambika in Kollur, a visit to which is also a part of the many activities at the camp.Maravanthe and Byndoor are two beaches both of which are at a distance of around 35 km from the camp enhancing the entire experience for the guests. The in-camp activities include birding, butterfly watching and some adventure based activities (requires proper setup). To catch the fresh breath of soothing air, a visit to Arisinagundi falls can be arranged from the camp.
Experiance
On the Butterfly Trail, one might get an opportunity to watch butterflies of various hues and colours including Tamil Lacewing, Plain Puffin, Malabar Tree Nymph, Paris Peacock, Grey Count, Red Helen, and Blue Oak Leaf. There is a possibility that one may spot a Malabar Giant Squirrel, sambar, wild boar, Indian gaur, peacocks, barking deer, and other wild animals.
Birds, including Malabar Pied Hornbill, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Small Blue Kingfisher, Stork-billed Kingfisher and Asian Paradise Flycatcher, could be spotted at the camp. There is a children’s play area also within the camp.

- All request for cancellation of confirmed booking have to be received through email or in writing if booked at our office in Mumbai.
- 10% of the tariff, if cancelled two or more than two weeks before check in date/time.
- 50% of the tariff, if cancelled between 48hours to two weeks before check in date/time.
- No refund if cancelled less than 48hours before check in date/time.
- One postponement / Preponement is free if requested two or more than two weeks before check in date/time (Once postponed /preponed there is no further change or cancellation).
- 10% of the tariff, if requested between 48hours to two weeks before check in date/time.
- 50% of the tariff, if requested within 24hours to 48 hours before check in date/time.
- No modification, if requested within 24 hours to check in.
Travel Tips
- Dress for comfort. Do avoid bright colours and stick to muted shades of green, black, grey and brown. The more you meld with the background, the better.
- Wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Avoid smoking – anything can start a forest fire.
- You’ll be spending a lot of time outdoors. Don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, torch, etc.
- Avoid plastics. We’re really trying to cut down on plastics.
- PETS ARE STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED
- Since there is a connectivity issue, no electronic payment is possible and only cash payment is accepted.
Route Map
There is very good bus connectivity from Bangalore to Udupi and both bus and train connectivity from Mangalore to Udupi.
Private buses and taxis are available from Udupi to Anejari.
The nearest railway station is the Mookambika Road (Byndoor) and taxi service is available from there till the camp.
Also, one can easily get a taxi from Kollur to Anejari.
